Welcome to our recipes section

We at CookAbility love trying new ideas and recipes with our students during the courses.

Every month we would like to share a popular recipe with you. We hope that you will enjoy these as much as our students do.

Savoury Chelsea Buns

250g (8oz) plain flour
½ tsp salt
1 sachet dried yeast
90ml (3floz) warm milk
50g (2oz) butter melted
1 egg
50g (2oz) butter melted
Grated cheddar cheese
Thin Ham
Paprika

For the dough add into a bowl the flour, salt, yeast. Then stir in the milk, 2oz butter and the egg to form a soft dough.
Knead this for 10 minutes and leave to rise covered in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
Knock back and knead again for 2 minutes then roll into a rectangle.
Brush with the other 2oz of melted butter, lay on the ham and sprinkle with the cheese and paprika.
Roll up and slice into thick rounds.
Lay cut side down in a tray, cover and leave to rise again for 20 minutes.
Bake in oven 200°c for 20-25 minutes till browned.
Very good for a party, for filling up guests for not a lot of cost. Can be made the day before and warmed up.
